Workaway with Joseph

Dear elbēn community,

I've been on the road, from Asia to South America, for 2 and a half years. It's hard to believe sometimes when I say it out loud. In that time I've lived at a Buddhist monastery in Sri Lanka, an organic rice farm in Malaysia. I've picked olives in Italy and written a play for a theater in Romania. I poured drinks at a hostel bar in Panama and made films in the Amazon rain forest in Colombia. Stop by the bistro and find me if you want to hear some of my stories--but of course, you have to trade me with some of yours! While traveling I developed a serious passion for capturing images. Videos, pix. I've been using my camera as much as I can. Now I'm coming to Münster to study for a master's in Visual Anthropology at the University. And of course try to break into the movie making world! So while I'm here I really want to keep getting more experience and building my skills even more. elbēn seems like the perfect opportunity to keep sharing my stories and to hear the stories of people from Syria, a place I know so little about. And then getting to work on hip photos and videos for the project--it just seemed like a perfect match. A chance to unite my love of storytelling with images and my love of getting to know new people and places. At elben I'm taking photos at events and portraits of team members. And best of all I'm making a video for the B-side festival. It's a cool festival for students and artist and community groups around Münster. I've done a lot of cool workaways all around the world, but I have to say the elbēn team is so supportive and trusting and really give me the feeling that can bring my talents and be creative. So thanks for that! So far, I'm totally stoked to be here and can't wait to meet more of you, tell our stories, break bread and be friends. See you around Münster!

Sincerely, Joseph
